Lore: Empire of Holy Saxony
A theocratic feudal kingdom who's society resembles the crowns of old, The Empire controls the vast majority of former Europe, North America and Northwest Africa from its seat of power in Dresden. The city was miraculously spared during The Shift, and when rallied by a somewhat mysterious figure known as Wilhelm, would go on to become the seat of a global superpower. Wilhelm The Black began a campaign of ruithless expansion succeeded generations later by his teenaged descendant, Friedrich.
The region of Greater Saxony is divided into geographic fiefdoms; each owned and governed by a noble family who take their holding, preceded by 'von', as a surname and are bestowed a prenominal title depending on their authority. Noble stations range from the five Kurfursten (Prince-electors), who vote to determine royal succession, down to the many hundreds of Ritter (Knights), who almost invariably swear fealty to a higher ranking noble house, as many lack even land to claim as their own.
The Empire teeters on the brink of civil war. The boy Kaiser, Freidrich, has had a reign defined by bloodshed and is seen by many as an illegitimate heir. Even the Lords loyal to the crown question his personal fitness to rule, and those who are not loyal are openly amassing arms against him. Dissolution of houses, and assimilation of their holdings into the crownlands sparked resentment, but the execution of the entire living Von Habsburg bloodline may yet prove to be the spark that ignites the powderkeg.
Huskarlen, the Saxon Combat Frames, are squared and blocky as a rule, with thick armour and high mobility. The Germanic norms of chivalry encourage these models towards designs favouring close combat - even the lightest scout and support Frames will be equipped with a melee weapon. At range, Huskarlen are usually equipped with high-velocity ballistics intended to punch through armour and high explosive artillery and rocket weapons. Experimental and field-test models may utilize heavy railgun-type firearms. Up close, Saxony utilises Induction weaponry - using high-powered magnets and solenoids, metaferrite surfaces and edges can be quickly brought to a white-hot, yet solid state, able to melt effectively through hardened armour.
